Subject 1797 - Niles Bren-Quincey

Subject 1797 - Niles Bren-Quincey Activity Report 1997-Present

Hi Dad!

I know you probably weren't expecting to see me again, and that's cool. I looked into it and I understand why you didn't want contact with me and Mum. She's still taking it pretty hard, but I knew I could do something about it…

I read all the books you sent me, and I've sought out some of your other work as well. I realised that from the beginning, the things you were trying to protect me from… they were real. And I also realised that every time we came into contact with those things, all the monsters and stuff, we all ended up coming out fine. When I thought of it that way, it wasn't half as scary. Plus it was weird when suddenly all the adventure in our life went away.

I'm 16 now, the age when I promised Mum I would wait to drop out of school. I'm going to go travelling on my own, and maybe go somewhere else to do my A-Levels when I feel ready. Don't worry - I did well on my GCSEs because I knew they'd be all I had for a while. I just need some time to go on an adventure of my own first. And the first thing I'm going to do is come and find you.
Excerpt from letter, sent by Calvin Bren-Quincey to father Niles, Subject 1797

Subject known to have largely lost contact with those involved in the CryptoNet-related dimensional anomalies in 1997. Though this would suggest that threat levels remain low, it should be noted that this Subject has significant knowledge and experience of dimensional rifts, and (mainly) of cryptozoology and supernatural animals.

Subject currently lives in ADDRESS WITHHELD, a location deliberately chosen to be close to the Centre for Fortean Zoology; however, this is not to be considered a permanent location, because long-term travel from this base is frequent. Most recently, subject has spent two (2) months (totalling 30 days, including travel time) in the United States of America. Intelligence suggests the majority of those 28 days were spent in the California desert but, since Institute locations do not exist in the country, this information should not be treated as absolutely true and more investigation would be appreciated by staff. In particular, correspondence suggests research was conducted into the role of dimensional weakness and its role in animal behavioural changes. Resulting writing has been published five (5) times, most recently in the independent magazine CRYSTAL, edited by Roberta Li.

Geographical correlation between Subject and Subject 7897 [Lena Olsen AKA Magdalena Romanova AKA Calypso 2.0] is strong. Movement patterns are shown to closely and consistently match until circa 2002, at which point the correlation weakens but remains extant. Forensic psychologists on staff hypothesise this is the result of a feeling of guardianship, and a need to be close to the volatile supernatural presence in case of a dangerous incident. Such an incident has not as of present day occurred, though reports indicate that the organisation known as the Holy Church of the Singer is rapidly growing in popularity. Distance strongly kept between Subject and said organisation.

It should be noted that contact has been initiated with the Subject on the part of son Calvin, with research material sent from family home in London (covering letter attached). If contact successfully made between father and son, it is known that threat levels are very likely to rise, due to the remarkable increase in investigative and research skills when in direct contact. Observation continues.
